LWC Softball opens MSC play at home against Cumberlands

The Lindsey Wilson softball team opens up Mid-South Conference play against Cumberlands at Marilyn D. Sparks Park, Lindsey Wilson Sports Complex, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY at 3pmCT on Friday and at 1pmCT on Saturday. Both days will be doubleheader matchups between the squads.

The Blue Raiders (15-1, 0-0 MSC) return to action after defeating Reinhardt (Ga.) 1-0 and 8-2 on Sunday afternoon.


Lindsey Wilson has a .345 batting average with 107 RBI's while maintaining an on-base percentage of .401. Pitching for the Blue Raiders is strong this season as the rotation boasts a 1.67 earned run average, striking out 84 batters while keeping opponents to a .199 batting average.

Individually, Jaydee Boursaw and Callum Pilgrim lead the Blue Raiders both hitting a .500 on the year. Boursaw is ranked second in the NAIA in total home runs with 10, while Pilgrim ranks fifth with six.

Annabelle Ramirez continues to lead LWC pitching staff with a .54 earned run average while striking out 33 batters and only giving up two runs in 26 innings of work. Hannah Epperson adds in with a .59 earned run average on 35.1 innings pitching while striking out 30 batters this season.

Cumberlands (10-8, 0-0MSC) comes to Columbia after defeating Hiwassee (Tenn.) 14-1 and 5-0 on March 13 in Madisonville, Tennessee.

As a team, the Patriots are hitting a .285 batting average with 70 RBI's on 138 hits. Cumberlands pitching adds in with a 3.74 earned run average while striking out 75 batters.

Individually, Acacia Gray leads the Patriots with a .364 batting average driving in seven RBI's. Madison Huber is also having success at the plate with a .351 batting average and hitting four triples, the sixth most in the NAIA.

Friday's matchup marks the 68th meeting with Lindsey Wilson leading the overall series 56-11. The last matchup occurred during the 2018 MSC Softball Championship opening round with Lindsey Wilson winning in run-rule fashion 12-3 over the Patriots.
