LWC Men's Outdoor Track and Field takes 3rd at Margaret Simmons Invitational

Murray, KY - The Lindsey Wilson men's track and field team placed third out of 11 teams at the Margaret Simmons Invitational hosted by Murray State University.

The Blue Raiders earned 77.5 team points in a third place with three first-place finishes. Centre (KY) captured the first-place team victory with 151.5 points, while Mid-South Conference member Georgetown (KY) garnered second place with 80.5 points.


In the 100 meter dash, Holt Keeling took first place crossing the finish line in 11.06 seconds. Christian Whitehead also competed in the event and earned a second place finish in 11.13 seconds. Two more Blue Raiders finished in the top-10 in Jaylun Wallace with a ninth-place finish in 11.53 seconds and Landon Saum earning 10th place in 11.61 seconds.

Wallace went on to added a second place finish in the 400-meter dash in 50.92 seconds. Keeling kept pace in the event with a fifth-place finish in 51.55 seconds. Hunter Watkins finished ninth in 57.63, while Devon Hall tied for 10th in 53.05 seconds.

In the 1,500 meter run, Tim Headrick placed seventh in 4:17.17 while Levi Owens finished just behind Headrick in eighth-place in 4:19.97.

Whitehead garnered a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 58.52 seconds to earn his second podium of the day.

The 4x400 relay of Watkins, Wallace, Keeling and Whitehead earned a first-place finish in 3:24.13.

In the 4 x 800 relay, the team of Headrick, Owens, Jordan Tucker and Seth Hardwick added a fourth-place finish in 8:46.4. Aaron Mattingly, Noah Brown, Hunter Preston, and Josh Murdock earned a fifth-place finish in 8:47.67.

In field events, Austin Campbell earned second place during the discus with a throw of 38.59 meters. Timothy Higgs added with a 13th place finish with a throw 33.08 meters. Campbell added with a 14th place finish in the hammer throw with a 29.21-meter throw.

In the Javelin throw, Cameron Thurman finished in third place with a throw of 40.56 meters, while Austin Sparrow garnered a fifth-place finish with a throw of 37.55 meters.

The Lindsey Wilson men's track and field team is back in action on Friday-Saturday March 22-23 at the Black-Gold Invite in Nashville, Tennessee.
