LWC Softball hosts weekend series against Brescia and Huntington

The Lindsey Wilson softball team kicks off their weekend series on Friday, March 1, 2019, against Brescia at 3pmCT followed by Huntington on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at 11amCT at Marilyn D. Sparks Park, Lindsey Wilson Sports Complex, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY.

No.13 ranked Blue Raiders (6-0) return home after defeating Bethel (TN) in a doubleheader on Tuesday evening 11-5 and 14-3.


As a team, Lindsey Wilson holds a .380 batting average with 50 RBIs this season, while ranking first in the NAIA in home runs per game, averaging 2.5 per game. LWC ranks fifth in the NAIA in slugging percentage at .709.

Jaydee Boursaw ranks first in the NAIA in total home runs with six this season. Boursaw is batting .609 while ranking fifth in the NAIA in slugging percentage at 1.443. Callum Pilgrim is ranked sixth in the NAIA in total hits per game, averaging 2.2 hits.

Brescia (2-4) returns to action after suffering a doubleheader loss to Campbellsville (KY) 7-0 and 4-0 on Tuesday evening. As a team, the Bearcats are batting .227 with nine RBIs this season. Hayden Pulliam leads Brescia batting .421 with five doubles, ranking her eighth in the NAIA in total doubles.

Friday's matchup marks the seventh meeting, with Lindsey Wilson posting a 6-0 record. The last matchup occurred in 2009, in which LWC defeated Brescia in a doubleheader 5-1 and 11-0.

Huntington (0-0) opens their 2019 season against Lindsey Wilson on Saturday morning. The Foresters posted a 24-26 record in 2018 batting .267 with 160 RBIs. Pitching performances by Huntington led to an earned run average of 3.07 with 131 strike-outs last season.
