Letter: More needs to be done

Comments re photo 82672:
Columbia we have a problem window panes falling from upper floor of historic building

By Victoria Pike

I certainly agree that the building is an eyesore to our downtown and appears to be a safety hazard as well. It would be nice if everything could be restored to its former glory but if not it needs to go. It takes away from those buildings which have been restored. It surely has an owner of record who pays the taxes on it. If not condemn it and do something with it whether that be restore or demolish.

This goes for other buildings that are not kept up in our downtown. I'm sure this won't sit well with some. Then you wonder why everything is moving out of the city and downtown to the newer developments that are all new with plenty of parking. I think it's great that some have invested their money Downtown but more needs to be done. If it can't be restored in a timely manner it needs to go to provide parking for those that have restored many of the buildings.
