Gloria Jean Hitch, 73, Liberty, KY (1945-2019)

Gloria was a talented musician, an officer of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW and a server at the Village Restaurant.

Gloria Jean Hitch, of Liberty, passed away on February 5, 2019, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Gloria was 73 years of age.

A graveside service will be held at 2pmET on Friday, February 8, 2019, at the Salem Cemetery, Salem United Methodist Church, 3085 Linnie Rheber Rd., Liberty, KY, with Bro. John Edgell officiating.


Born on May 12, 1945, in Liberty, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ballard Mills and Ruby Bolt Washburn.

Gloria was a talented musician, an officer of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW and a server at the Village Restaurant.

Survivors include two sons, John (Karen) Hitch of Indiana and Donald "Bud" Hitch Jr. of Missouri; a daughter, Judith (Jerry) Ekert of Texas; a brother, Roger D. (Pam) Washburn of Indiana; a sister, Elaine Immke; 9 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.

In additions to her parents, Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wayne Hitch, whom she married on October 12, 1966; a son, Michael G. Hitch; and a sister, Mary Ann Washburn.

Memorial contributions make take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
