LWC Basketball set to host Georgetown on Thursday night

The Lindsey Wilson men and women's basketball teams are set to host Georgetown (KY) for a Mid-South Conference doubleheader on Thursday at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY.

The doubleheader action begins with the women as they tip off at 6pmCT followed by the men's game at 8pmCT.


The No. 20-ranked women (15-6, 5-2 MSC) are coming off a non-conference victory over Wilberforce (Ohio). Lindsey Wilson defeated the Bulldogs 76-52 at Biggers Sports Center on Monday, claiming Head Coach John B. Wethington's 600th career win.

J'Nayah Hall led the Blue Raiders with 21 points along with five assists and nine rebounds. Reagan Turner was the only other Blue Raider with double-digit points scoring 19. Maleigha Oldham matched Hall with nine rebounds as well.

Turner has performed well for Lindsey Wilson this season, placing her in the NAIA Division I ranks for total points (427) for a No. 5 ranking as well as points per game (20.3) for a No. 6 ranking. Gerda Paulauskaite also ranks No. 7 nationally in total blocks (54) and blocks per game (2.7).

Georgetown (18-4, 3-4 MSC) visits Columbia, Kentucky after losing 86-75 on the road to Pikeville (Ky.) on Saturday. Martina Lytle and Alexis Stapleton led the offense for the Tigers with 18 points each.

Madison Darnell and Malaka Frank are the statistical leaders for Georgetown this season. Darnell leads the team in points per game (10.6), assists per game (2.3) and blocks per game (0.7). Frank leads in rebounds per game (6.5) and steals per game (2).

Thursday's matchup is the 58th meeting between the two programs. Georgetown holds a 31-26 record against Lindsey Wilson. The two teams last met back on January 10th where the Blue Raiders defeated the Tigers 66-52 on the road.

Lindsey Wilson men's basketball (12-10, 3-4 MSC) returns to action after a 72-60 road victory against Life on Saturday afternoon. JR Adams led the Blue Raiders with 17 points and four assists. Three other Blue Raiders posted double figures in Kel Stotts with 13 points, while Pierre Lys and Shakaris Laney both notched 12 points each.

As a team, the Blue Raiders are holding opponents to 39.3 percent shooting from the field and 29.7 percent from beyond the arc.

As an individual, Adams ranks tenth in the NAIA in total steals with 42 with 1.9 steals per game average.

Georgetown (19-3, 5-2 MSC) returns to action after a 93-74 victory over Pikeville (Ky.) Saturday afternoon. The Tigers are led by Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Player of The Week, Joe Burton who has paced an average of 25.5 points per game for the last two games.

As a team, Georgetown is ranked sixth in NAIA in total scoring offense averaging 89.6 points per game. The Tigers are ranked seventh in NAIA in total rebounds with an average of 42.1 rebounds per game.

Chris Coffey leads the individual efforts ranking third in the NAIA in both rebounds per game and total rebounds with 11.3 rebounds per game.

Thursday's matchup marks the 59th meeting with Georgetown leading the overall series 41-17. The last meeting occurred on January 10, in which the Blue Raiders lost 73-69.
