LWC Wrestling produces 7 straight pins on way to 53-6 victory By Christopher Coombs The Lindsey Wilson wrestling team used seven straight pins and one technical fall as they cruised to a demanding 53-6 victory over Midway (KY) on Friday night in Mid-South Conference action. The Blue Raiders are back on the mat Tuesday at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY, starting at 7pmCT when they take on the No. 3-ranked Running Eagles of Life University. The Blue Raiders (4-0 MSC) forfeited their first bout of the night to give up six points but the Midway (0-5 MSC) lead was short-lived. Brady Moser (No. 9 at 133) pinned Dymond Smith to the mat in 1:48 of the first period. Trent Johnson (No. 6 at 141) gave the Blue Raiders the lead, one they would never relinquish, when he pinned Robert Dominguez in 1:20 of the first period. Austin Ramsey then took down Alaeldin Gibril on another Blue Raider pin after he took a 5-1 advantage before ending the match just 45 seconds into the second period. Mark Taijeron (No. 14 at 157) controlled the first period of his match against Lee Johnson to a 7-2 advantage before extending his lead to 13-6 during the second. Taijeron would ultimately pick up the Blue Raiders fourth straight pin 52 seconds into the final period. Midway forfeited six team points to the Blue Raiders when they were unable to send out a wrestler at 165-pounds as LWC would lead 30-6 with four bouts remaining. Brett Bradford (No. 8 at 174) controlled his match against Sterling Griffin as he was able to build a 13-2 advantage into the second period before ultimately pinning Griffin to the mat in 4:41. Lucas Miozza (No. 20 at 184) wrestled Isaiah McDougal and was able to take a 9-0 lead in the second period before he got in on the pin action, taking down McDougal in 4:13. Avery Buckman (No. 20 at 197) recorded the Blue Raiders final pin of the night, doing so in just 1:26 against Ray Karl Irving. Brandon Reed (No. 1 at Heavyweight) capped off Lindsey Wilson's impressive night with a 20-5 technical fall victory over Kevin Ixpanel in the first period.
