ACSO: Child found alone on Milltown Church Road

By Sheriff Josh Brockman
Adair County Sheriff's Office

At 1:55pmCT, the Adair County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to Milltown Church Road when Adair County 911 advised that they had received a call from a female who had located a small child in the roadway.

Upon Deputy Hitch's arrival, he located the caller, who had pulled to the side of the road and placed the child in her vehicle, because the child was cold and wet from the rain.

After investigation, the location the child may have walked from had been determined and deputies proceeded to that location, approximately 3 tenths of a mile down the road.

The residence was unoccupied, but while the officers were at the location, the brother of the child pulled into driveway. The brother had gone to town to run an errand and get gas, and admitted he left the child alone there.

Tyler Butler was arrested on charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor and Wanton Endangerment. He was lodged in Adair County Regional Jail by Deputy Hitch.

Hitch was assisted on scene by Sheriff Brockman, Deputy Durbin, and Child Protective Services.

NOTE: An arrest is not a finding of guilt. An individual placed under arrest is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.
