Letter: Burning questions about wartime casserole Jane Flanagan writes: I've been a constant reader for years, but don't believe I have ever commented. However, this recipe facinates me and I simply could not resist asking the burning question - What about the icky gelatinous goop in the can? Do you include that in the recipe? Burning questions.... --JaneJane, thanks for writing. We've only every served Vienna sausages with hot sauce and crackers. We'd like to think that you wouldn't serve that goop to dinner guests, but this recipe dates from a waste-no-calories era, where tossing it might have been frowned upon.
