Artist reception for Dorothy Cowan at Highland Station Highland Station Gallery is proud to announce their next Gallery exhibition, Dorothy Cowan ~ Life Of An Artist, to run April 3 through April 12, 2025. An Artist Reception will be held at 4pmCT on Thursday, April 3, 2025. Dorothy Cowan was born in 1936 in Sparksville. She went to school in a 1-room schoolhouse, learning from favorite teachers Brooks Coomer & Meral Brown. Dorothy got married at 16, and raised three children. She didn't know she could draw or paint anything until after all her children were grown. One day a visiting friend left a book behind with a picture of a horse and she drew it. The drawing was good, and she became interested in art. One day she was wandering in the creek and found a slick rock and thought she could paint that. She then took an art class and painted her first picture. She drew and painted pictures of buildings, flowers and birds, selling some, but keeping most of them. Dorothy is now retired. Highland Station Gallery is located at 3292 Wheeler Hill Road, Columbia KY. More information and exhibit hours are available at www.HighlandStationGallery.com. 2025-04-02 11:02:02 | Comments | Printable version
