Matt Arnold to speak at Centre College on Sept 26

Matt Arnold, son of Dr. Ben and Margaret Arnold of Columbia, KY, will present "Demystifying the Film and Television Industries" at 7pmET on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, in the Weisiger Theatre, 600 W Walnut St, Danville, KY. The talk is open to public.

Television writer, showrunner, executive producer, and Centre alum Matthew Arnold brings insight into creating television shows and the opportunities and challenges of pursuing a career in the motion picture and television industries. In this candid talk, he will take you on journey from his graduation from Centre to working for Quentin Tarantino on a Hollywood movie set, meeting stars such a Robert DeNiro and Samuel L. Jackson, making short films (even directing Harrison Ford!) to then eventually creating, producing, and directing his first primetime television series on NBC.

This talk will inform students about both the art and business of Hollywood while also providing them with some insight about how to succeed in this tough and protean industry. At the core of the story: a message about the power of persistence.

Please take the Community Needs Assessment Survey

From Nick Roy, Agent for Agriculture & Natural Resources
Adair Co. Cooperative Extension Service

Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service recently launched a statewide survey with hopes of reaching thousands across the Commonwealth. In fact, our last survey received more than 38,000 responses, and we want to see that number grow.

Knowing what matters to Kentucky means our services will matter to Kentucky. You might already know about our educational programs for agricultural production, youth development, nutrition, business development, and family finances... but our outreach has grown even more. Our last survey led to partnerships with nationally recognized experts and new services in areas such as:
  • Addiction Intervention & Prevention
  • Small-Town Tourism & Art Revitalization Programs
  • Rural Mental Health & Suicide Prevention
  • Natural Disaster Preparedness
And this is only the start for what's ahead. With more direction from you and others in our community, we can continue real work that matters to real people. People like you.

We hope you'll take our ten-minute survey found at go.uky.edu/serveKY and encourage others to do the same. We want to hear from all Kentucky citizens ages 18 and up. Every voice matters.

Letter: Soldiers from Green Co.

Dorothy DeLisle writes:
At least 2 of the soldiers in Captain Robert Paxton's company were from Green County, Kentucky which is adjacent to Adair: John Raffity/Rafferty and William Stearman who were 2nd cousins to each other. Wooded acreage becomes new Citizens Park

By Linda Waggener

Preserving the 17-acre tract of woods within the city limits was something I felt called to do, along with many others, when the Ralph Hurt property was sold after the death of his daughter Pamela Foust.

The City of Columbia wound up becoming its owner and the resulting park in this beautiful setting is coming to fruition. It will be called Citizens Park.

Football: Blue Raiders over Point University, 57-7

When it rains it pours, and did the Blue Raider football team ever pour it on in the second half to ground the Skyhawks of Point University 57-7 at Parnell Family Stadium this weekend.

Despite the challenges of mother nature, Lindsey Wilson embraced the cold, rain-soaked field conditions to run for 122 of its 185 rushing yards in the third and fourth quarters. All told, the home team posted its second-highest single-game offensive output of the season with 378 total yards to Point's 103.
