Former CPD Chief Jason Cross sentenced to jail

Jason Cross, the former Chief of the Columbia Police Department, has been sentenced to five months in prison plus one year in supervised release after entering an Alford plea to charges of the theft of over $25,000 from the CPD evidence room and drug purchase fund.

Cross, 46, was accused of taking the money over a year leading up to February 2021. The federal case was investigated by the the CPD and Kentucky State Police.
