Read Across Adair 2023 a huge success

By Principal Debbie Bradshaw

ACPC faculty and staff did a wonderful job decorating for Read Across Adair. Adair County Primary Center ... where little kids do BIG things!

Thanks to all our community partners and Adair faculty, our annual event was again a huge success, with over 400 in attendance!

On Monday, March 6, 2023 some of our community supporters walked our halls and then judged our decorated classroom doors. Mrs. Angel Reeder's class won the competition.

Letter: animal control ordinance suggestion

Joyce Coomer writes:

I read the county's proposed animal control ordinance a few times this past weekend. I'm not comfortable with this ordinance, on many levels. However, there is something that that I feel should be included, which would help everyone, cats included.

It should be mandatory, unless someone is raising pedigreed animals as their ONLY source of income, that all cats and dogs should be spayed and neutered.

Throughout the years, I have seen charts showing how many kittens (and subsequent offspring) one female cat would produce throughout her lifetime. Yes, there would be many. Few people pay attention to such information, nor act on it.

However, when dollar signs are added, people become much more attentive.

This is Vehicle Safety Recalls Week

From Chuck Wolfe

Frankfort, KY - National Vehicle Safety Recalls Week is March 6-12 - an ideal time to check whether your motor vehicle is among nearly 50 million cars and trucks on the road today with unrepaired safety recalls.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), in partnership with the National Safety Council (NSC), encourages every Kentucky vehicle owner to use the occasion to check their recall status and schedule a free repair if needed.

All recalls are FREE to have repaired at authorized dealers, regardless of where the vehicle was purchased. For more information on safety recalls, visit CheckToProtect.org.

In Kentucky, those chances are better than 1 in 5, with 21.6% of vehicles on the road today having unrepaired safety recalls.

Checking the Fences

By Veronica Arnold

After the winds died down somewhat but not gone, it was time to go outside and check the farm. Horses escaped their pen and was in the sheep pen, the sheep was hiding in the horse pen, and the chickens were squawking a storm.

Pens were tossed over, and once we got everyone back into their areas we checked the fence lines to see if trees took out fences which would let the cows out. I didn't see any compromised fences where it matters but there were trees down all over.

We were surveying the areas. Thankful to be safe and home relatively fine, we were able to see the beautiful sunset and observing there was beauty even in ugly things.

Check on your neighbors. Let's roll up our sleeves and help each other out. Prayers for linemen tonight to be safe as they work hard to restore power.
