Softball: Blue Raiders to host Midway in midweek twin bill The Lindsey Wilson softball team is set to continue its jam-packed week on Wednesday when the Blue Raiders return home to host Midway University (KY) in a non-conference doubleheader. The first pitch from Marilyn D. Sparks Park is scheduled for 1pmCT. The step away from the freshly started league schedule comes after the locals swept Thomas More University in a two-game series on Monday. During the twin bill in Florence, Za'Kiya Sizemore batted 0.571 with four hits and five runs batted in. Her impressive slugging percentage of 1.143 was paced by three extra-base hits, including the team's first triple of the season. Alexis Garayzar, Desiree Chang, and Cheyenne Sandoval also contributed to the Blue Raiders' offensive efforts against the Saints with three hits each and 10 combined RBIs. Going into Wednesday's slate, Garayzar and Sizemore boast respective eight-game hit-streaks, while Garayzar and Madyson Jones lead the locals with their own stretches of 10 consecutive games having reached base. Freshman Grace Adams made two appearances for Lindsey Wilson on Monday, firing a rotation-low 3.71 earned run average through 5.2 innings pitched. She also chipped in four total strikeouts and limited the batters she faced to a 0.250 hitting average. As for Midway, the Eagles enter this midweek series on the heels of their win of the season. After having back-to-back opponents canceled, Midway finally got back on the diamond with a split of Thomas More to improve to 1-3. The Eagles' other two losses on the year came at the hands of Campbellsville University, who soundly handed them 9-0 and 8-0 decisions. Sophomore Makenna Talcott is leading Midway with five hits and two runs scored, and senior Lauren Lingafelter is the only Eagle with multiple extra-base hits. In the circle, Madison Ludwig is credited with the team's lone win on the year. The senior has worked through 11.0 innings altogether and has retired a team-best five on strikes. Lindsey Wilson has won 25 of its last 26 meetings with Midway, including two in 2022 by a combined score of 14-8. The Eagles' one win during that stretch came back on April 4, 2018, in Columbia, 7-5.
