Russell County studies going to fast time

Russell County Judge Executive Randy Marcum said county government is investigating the possibility of switching Russell County from central (slow) time to the eastern (fast time) zone.

He made the point that many Russell County citizens who drive out of county to work, airport, most trucks coming into the county with supplies for stores and heading for medical appointments are mostly going into eastern time zones.

Their next door neighbor Wayne County started the process in 1999 and accomplished it in 2000. Should Adair County also be looking into the question of whether or not to stay with central time?

Letter: Descendant of brother William Burton

Ronny Lewis Burton writes:
Haven't been to a family reunion in some 35 years or so so I have lost track of what has gone on with the Burtons since then. At the time we were informed that there is a possibility a Burton was possibly a dispatch for George Washington. I never heard anything further. I am on ancestry.com and wondering if there is any cross-referencing to make the Burton connection. I appreciate your diligent work as it is most interesting. Thank you. Respectfully, Ronny Lewis Burton
