Basketball: Indians play in Metcalfe Co Team Camp By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer Adair County High School Boys Basketball is back in action for their second round of summer ball today, Monday, June 9, 2025, at Metcalfe County for the Metcalfe Co Team Camp. The JV team will play a game against the Barren County Trojans at NoonCT at MCHS, and then agame against Cumberland County at 2pmCT in the Old Gym. The varsity Boys will play Monroe County at 1pmCT at MCHS, and then face Cumberland County at 3pmCT in the Old Gym. The Indians suffered a rough loss in the second game of the regular season to Cumberland County last year 82-77. The Panthers of Cumberland County return 44% of their scoring from last season and this year should return a large amount of production coming from last year's Junior class, led by Noah Wood and Aiden Branham. Despite all of this, it cannot be forgotten that we are just in the second week of summer ball, this is a time for teams to grow and get better, if the Indians can do that, the day will be a success no matter what the scoreboard says. 2025-06-09 15:57:53 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Sports

Dramatic road safety changes on horizon Automated vehicles (AVs) are poised to make the most dramatic changes in travel safety in history, but before widespread adoption there will be plenty of bumpy roads. First, consider the benefits of AVs: * No more impaired driving from sleepiness, drink or drugs. That should save more than 10,000 lives a year, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). * No more speeding or reckless driving. AVs follow the rules. Kentucky Color: Smokey III, Pears and Yellowjackets By Billy Joe Fudge English Pointers are born with some higher quality tools in their tool box than are many other types of dogs. Great noses, great personalities, high IQs, highly refined ground-bird hunting DNA, and loyalty to their human families, to name just a few. Smokey was born in June, 1955. Since I was only 5 years old, there are many things about his early years that I learned from my family and others that interacted with him. However, concerning loyalty to their human families, the brother-to-brother bond we held for each other as we both grew up was firmly imprinted on my heart from the very first time Dad brought him home. Each time I see a picture of him, I remember things like us sitting shoulder-to-shoulder on the front porch. Looking south across our pond and fruit orchard toward Rock Lick Creek, we would converse about a broad range of subjects.
