Spraying for bugs needs special care In addition to the 2025 Cicadas visit, all the usual bugs are coming to life for summer and spraying is getting underway. Below are some helpful tips to keep treatment safe for family and pets. Read this before you spray: * Clear the area of kids, pets, and anyone else who isn't essential to the task. * Wear appropriate clothing, including long sleeves, long pants, closed-toe shoes, and any personal protective equipment listed on the label. * Remove personal items like drink cups, tools, toys, and your phone from the spray area. * Don't spray outside during windy conditions. * Ensure that the area is well-ventilated when spraying indoors. * Don't mix more than you need right away or store any excess solution. * Always wash your hands after spraying pesticides, especially before eating or drinking. * Use absorbent materials like sawdust and kitty litter to absorb spills, and avoid spraying with water -- this is more likely to spread the solution with potentially harmful consequences. Dispose of the used absorbent materials with plastic garbage bags and seal promptly. * Check the product label for disposal instructions. Pesticides are considered hazardous waste and should be disposed of according to local and state regulations.
