Basketball: Lady Indians fall to Cville, face PRP next

By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

On Friday January, 31, 2025, the Adair County Lady Indians Varsity Basketball team fell to the Campbellsville Lady Eagles 69-62 at home in John Burr Memorial Gymnasium.

The game was tightly contested all the way through. Adair led by 7 at the half, and the game was tied at the end of the third quarter. Campbellsville led by just two with under a minute to go, when an intentional foul was called on Adair County. Campbellsville ended up winning by 7.

The Lady Indians were led in scoring by Junior Kinzlee Akin, with 18, followed by Freshman Reese Bardin. The leading rebounders for team were Anika Jennings with 6, followed by Addie Bowman with 5.

The Lady Indians will seek to get back on track as they travel to Louisville today for a game with the Lady Panthers of PRP. That game is set to tip off at 12:30pmCT/1:30pmET on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Pleasure Ridge Park High School, 5901 Greenwood Road, Louisville, KY. Tickets are available at gofan.co.

PRP enters the game at 9-7, coming off a 9-point win over North Bullitt, while the Lady Indians enter with a record of 10-10 after Friday's loss to Campbellsville. The Lady Panthers were led in scoring in their last game by sophomore Marryah Carr, who put up 23 against North Bullitt. Slowing her down, and limiting the Lady Panthers shooting, will be key elements if the Lady Indians want to escape PRP with one in the win column.

Carol Perkins: The Porch Lights

Previous Column: A Face with the Voice

By Carol Perkins

The porch light is on at my mother's house, shining in the night, with the only other light coming from the porch light at her brother's house next door. Neither is at home. My uncle, Bob Reece, passed away at age 100 in October, and my mother (Marguerite Sullivan), age 103, a week ago. For all their adult lives, they were next-door neighbors, and after both spouses were gone, they never went a day without knowing about the other.

My cousin Roberta and I played daily and sometimes with our brothers Henry and Bobby. The community called them "Little Henry" and "Little Bobby" because they were named after their fathers. My daily routine was traveling through the field behind the house on my stick horse or, later, leading a group of teenagers to the creek for a wiener roast. We built playhouses, rode down the hill on our bikes, and explored the woods.

My mother never lost her memory, but her body didn't cooperate.
