Tuck Everlasting this weekend at LWC

TheatreFest!, the Summer Theatre at Lindsey Wilson College will present its 5th IMAGINE! Youth Theatre production June 28, 29, and 30! This summer's production is Tuck Everlasting (TYA Version), a 70-minute edition of the story that asks the question: What would you do if you could live forever?

Performances of Tuck Everlasting will take place June 28 & 29 at 7pmCT and June 30 at 2pmCT in V.P. Henry Auditorium, located inside the L.R. McDonald Administration Building on the Campus of Lindsey Wilson College. Tickets are available online at www.theatrefest.org and will be available at the door.

Michael A. Smith, 64, Columbia, KY (1960-2024)

Michael Anthony Smith of Columbia died on June 21, 2024 at Campbellsville Nursing and Rehab. He was 64 years old.

The funeral service will be held at NoonCT on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Bobby Bowe delivering the Eulogy. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 10amCT on Monday.

Brian David Cox, 52, Campbellsville, KY (1972-2024)

Mr. Brian David Cox of Campbellsville, the son of Kirby Cox and Anna Sue (Cable) Wheatley, was born April 6, 1972 in Campbellsville. He departed this life on Thursday, June 27, 2024 in Louisville at the Norton Inpatient Care Pavilion. He was 52 years of age.

The Pursuit of Happiness. In the Declaration of Independence, we are guaranteed the Pursuit of Happiness. Unlike in so many countries, our government can't stop us from trying to be happy by putting limitations on us. They can take (and do) as much as half of our paycheck, but we are not prevented from making as much as we want, buying what we want, saying what we want, and living how we want to live. I pursue happiness from the time I get up until I go to bed. Sometimes I succeed.

Guy and I recently cruised to the Mexican Riveria: Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cobos. I saw poverty, congestion, and messy messes.

Adair Co. Grand Jury June 20 indictments

On Thursday, June 20, 2024, the Adair County Circuit Court Grand Jury met and handed down indictments against 6 individuals from Columbia, Campbellsville, Greensburg, and Louisville, KY, and Pensacola, FL. Charges included criminal trespass, possession, speeding, DUI, failure to wear seat belts, trafficking and assault.

NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

Agenda for July 1 City Council meeting

Two new businesses open in former Kmart building

Two new businesses will open in Russell Springs today, Friday, June 28, 2024, in the old Kmart building which has been empty for some time. On one side of the building will be Tractor Supply and Bargain Hunt will be on the other side.

Ribbon cutting ceremonies will be held by the Russell County Chamber of Commerce starting at 9amCT in the building located behind McDonalds.

Adair EDA approved for KPDI $397,750 grant

It is always a privilege to travel to Frankfort on the last Thursday of the month when the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) meets.

The Columbia-Adair County Economic Development Authority's presence there means something good is about to happen in Adair County! Thursday, Larry Walker, chairman of the EDA board, Richard Phelps, board member, and I attended the June KEDFA meeting where the EDA was approved for Kentucky Product Development Initiative (KPDI) Round 2 funding in the amount of $397,750.
