Michael A. Smith, 64, Columbia, KY (1960-2024)

Michael Anthony Smith of Columbia died on June 21, 2024 at Campbellsville Nursing and Rehab. He was 64 years old.

The funeral service will be held at NoonCT on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Bobby Bowe delivering the Eulogy. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 10amCT on Monday.


He was born June 5, 1960, to the late James Henry Smith and the late Jo Hattie Motley Smith. He attended Indianapolis Public Schools and had worked at Sexton & Cox Detail & Wash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five aunts, Ruth Motley, Nancy Motley, Wanda Motley, Gladys Triplett and Norma Ramsey and three uncles, L.B. Smith, William Fred Johnson and Thomas Motley

Survivors include:
  • Three brothers - David Motley (Shelby) of Indianapolis, William J. Smith of Indiana and James D. Smith of Columbia
  • Four sisters - Joyce Hooten, Lena Rea Smith, Helen R. Pittman and Patricia L. Smith all of Indiana
  • Three uncles - Ben Smith of Columbia, Robert N. Motley and Mark Motley both of Indiana
  • Four aunts - Delores Motley, Linda Motley, Christine Motley and Donetta Duncan all of Indiana
  • Several other relatives and friends
Casket Bearers: Lee Allen Graves, Craig Lasley, Dwight Taylor, Charles Jones, Stephen Walkup, Heath Walkup

Honorary: Garry Cox, Bill Sexton, Billy Wheat
