Letter: Washer sheets

Kerry Robertson writes:
Please let us know what you think. I have considered trying these, but I don't know anyone else who has. Does the size of the load matter?
Comments re: A recycling effort underway
Kerry, so far so good! The instructions give details for the load size and allow for using half a sheet, one whole sheet, or for very large loads, two sheets. Let us know if you decide to try them and what your experience is. - LW

Letter: Courthouse photo brings childhood memories

Brad Morrison writes:
As a youngster I spent many days in the Columbia Courthouse with my uncle W.K. (Billy) Neat. I believe Joe England (earlier photo) was sheriff at the time. I have very fond memories of those days and I can still smell the cedar shavings as you walk up the steps to enter the courthouse.

This photo was taken late in the afternoon as my uncle was leaving to go home and being assisted down the steps. You can clearly see his face on the right side of the steps lit by the sun. I am the young man in a yellow shirt sitting on the rail with arms crossed on the left side of the steps. I have this picture hanging in my office at home. I'm constantly reminded of my childhood home through this brief slice of time captured by the photographer.
