Chance of severe weather Wed night through Thur morning Mike Keltner, Director of Adair Co. Emergency Management sends word that the National Weather Service is advising of possible severe weather this week. A strong low pressure system will move into the region on Wednesday. Heavy rainfall with the system could result in isolated instances of flooding (both flash flooding and river). Isolated strong to severe storms are possible as well. Beaumont hired as LWC Head Volleyball Coach Aubrey Beaumont has been selected as the 11th head coach of the Lindsey Wilson volleyball program, athletics director Willis Pooler announced. "I am excited to have Aubrey join our staff and lead our volleyball program, Pooler said. "It was evident during the interview process she had a clear vision for providing an outstanding student-athlete experience, while competing at the highest level in the NAIA." Beaumont comes to Lindsey Wilson with collegiate coaching and playing experience. For the past two seasons, she served as an assistant coach with McPherson College. Her leadership pushed the Bulldogs to a 30-23-1 record over the span and a birth in the NAIA National Championship Tournament in 2021. CPD: Inmate walk-away By Officer Adam Cravens, PIO Columbia Police Department The Columbia Police Department were called to The Class D Facility of Adair Regional Jail on Sunday night, January 15, 2023, after staff reported a Class D inmate had walked away from the facility. Shawn Hamilton, 28, of Nicholasville had been in Adair's Class D since January 9, 2023, before waking away January 15, 2023. Registration for 4-H Summer Camp starts Feb 1 By Tony Rose, Agent for 4-H Youth Development Adair County Cooperative Extension Service 4-H Summer Camp will take place from June 13 through 16, 2023. Registration for 4-H Summer Camp will start on February 1, 2023. Youth from Adair County can go to the 4-H camp at Lake Cumberland 4-H Center June 13-16, 2023, with 4-H'ers from Green, Marion, and Wayne Counties. The total cost for the Camp is $285.00, which includes lodging, meals, etc. There are camping spots available for approximately 25 boys and 60 girls. Campers will take part in an organized program of activities such as swimming, boating, archery, hiking, crafts, outdoor education, folk games, campfires, group sports, and more. There'll be new friends and you'll learn more about citizenship, leadership, and getting along with others. Wrestling: LWC collects two wins on Senior Night The No. 13-ranked Lindsey Wilson wrestling team picked up a pair of wins on senior night against Pikeville and Kentucky Wesleyan. Lindsey Wilson dominated Pikeville 60-0. The Blue Raiders then defeated Kentucky Wesleyan 23-17 as senior Carlos Figueroa earned a pin at 1:55 to capture the victory for Lindsey Wilson on senior night. His pin broke a 17-17 tie entering the final match against the Panthers.
