Donations being accepted in Casey County for Friday delivery From Frances Salyers Ridgetop Greenhouses, 803 Thomas Ridge Spur Road in Dunville, will be accepting donations to go to victims of the Eastern Kentucky flooding this week. All items and donations MUST be left by Friday evening at 4pm at the latest to be delivered on Saturday. We will be taking items and following a church bus loaded with items that they have gathered up. The victims need help so please donate items they can use. ACSO: Drug arrest in Breeding after traffic stop From Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff's Office On Sunday, July 31, 2022, 5:06pmCT, Deputy Kenny Perkins initiated a traffic stop in the Breeding Community south of Columbia.. The operator of the vehicle was suspected of having illegal substances on or about his person. After searching, suspected methamphetamine was located along with drug paraphernalia. Manuel Gutierrez, Jr., 53, Campbellsville, KY (1969-2022) Manuel Gutierrez, Jr., passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022. He was 53 years old. Visitation is requested at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home on Thursday, August 4, 2022, from 5pmET to 7pmET. All family and friends are welcome to stop by and remember the great man he was and will forever be. Burial will be in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help cemetery at a later date, where his ashes will be laid to rest next to his family. KSP: Post 15 to Conduct Traffic Safety Checkpoints By Trooper Jonathan Houk Kentucky State Police Post 15 will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints in the Post 15 area, which includes Green, Taylor, Marion, Washington, Russell, Casey, Adair, Metcalfe, Monroe, Clinton, and Cumberland counties. These checkpoints will be conducted as part of Post 15's highway safety efforts. ACSO: Sheriff's Office arrest on felony drug charges By Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff's Office On 07-29-2022 at 8:39 pm K-9 Deputy Chandler Staten and Chief Deputy Brandon Hitch were dispatched to Lampton Lane to investigate a suspicious male in the area. Upon locating him he was identified as Joshua Arnold age 40 of Columbia. After roadside investigation it was determined Arnold was under the influence and was advised to place his hands behind his back. At that point Arnold pulled away and attempted to elude his arrest and struggle ensued. He was taken into custody without injury. Adair County, Iowa - one of four Adairs in the US We wonder if families from Adair County, KY went west and named their new home for the one they left? That theory would have to be worked out by historians like Mike Watson and Vonnie Kolbenschlag, however, we can visit and share that there are four counties by our same name in the US. The state of Iowa - where this "other Adair County" feature is located - was surveyed and laid out in counties in 1851. Land offices had been established as early as 1838, and land sold for $1.25 per acre. The money was used by the Government to defray the costs of the War of 1812. With the advent of the railroads land went up to $2.50 per acre. Like ours, the Iowa county was called Adair in honor of General John Adair, an officer in the War of 1812, and sixth governor of Kentucky. Monday storms could be heavy, stay alert to changes From Mike Keltner, Director Adair County Emergency Management Storms are expected to develop this afternoon ahead of a cold front approaching from the north. Storms may initiate over central or southern Indiana this afternoon and then push south into Kentucky this evening. Locally damaging wind gusts will be the main severe threat with the storms. CPD: Jail altercation results in additional charge By Officer Adam Cravens, PIO Columbia Police Department On Sunday morning, July 31, 2022, shortly after midnight, officers with the Columbia Police Department responded to Adair Regional Jail after a reported altercation between an inmate and staff. Male inmate was said to have created a brief disturbance within the jail before a physical altercation with a male Deputy Jailer. The employee sustained minor injuries before the inmate was subdued.
