No isn't always the acceptable answer

By Gale B. Cowan, Adair County Judge Executive

I’m happy to announce that the Welding Department at Adair County High School has been awarded a $147,089 grant for a piece of equipment in the welding shop.

Back in late 2020 I was talking with Mr. Taylor about how hard it was to get funding for our technical school's satellite campuses. We have the beautiful and well supplied Workforce and Technology Center in Russell Springs, and we are very fortunate to have the satellite campus for welding and nursing programs here at Adair County High School. But one of the struggles is getting equipment and the supplies they need to be able to teach the students.

Strong to severe storms possible later today

Mike Keltner, Director of Adair County Emergency Management, sends word that the National Weather Service in Louisville, KY is cautioning that rounds of showers and storms are expected later today and into Thursday.

Some of the storms later this afternoon into tonight could become strong to severe with isolated instances of damaging wind and hail possible. A brief tornado also cannot be ruled out, but is a lesser threat. In addition to those threats, heavy rainfall and frequent lightning will be common with any storm.

Showers and storms are expected to continue into tonight and Thursday, mainly across southern or central Kentucky. By this time, repeated rounds of heavy rain could lead to a few localized flooding concerns, in addition to a continued threat for a few strong to severe storms.

Confidence in severe storm potential is only in the medium range due to potential for clouds from morning showers to limit destabilization later today. If it clears out, then confidence in strong to severe storms quickly becomes higher.
