Belle-a-thon launched to help family with medical costs

Click headline for links to ways that you can help

By Shannon Sexton

Isabella Gonzalez is the 14 year old daughter of Emily Sneed and Daniel Gonzalez. To know Isabella is to love her. She is funny, kind, and independent. She is an avid animal lover, and has aspirations to grow up and have a career that enables her to work with animals every day.

When Isabella was born it was discovered that she had a chronic liver disease, called Biliary Atresia. This is a rare liver disease that occurs in 1 out of 15,000 births, which prevents the ducts of the liver from functioning. She spent her first 6 months of life at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, having surgeries and procedures.

Since then, Isabella's life has been riddled with constant doctors' appointments, checkups, procedures, and daily medications to help give her the best quality of life possible. Sadly, her liver deterioration continued, and just a few short months ago she was placed on the National Transplant Registry in hopes of finding a new liver. Isabella and her family received an answer to their prayers when they got the call on Wednesday, June 30th in the middle of the night that a liver was available for her.

By Amber Hale

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 8 Office advises motorists that KY 61 in Adair County has been reduced to one lane at the Russell Creek bridge (mile point 16.9) as crews work to remove drift and other debris from beneath the structure.

Work is requiring a full closure of the roadway as debris is being loaded onto trucks. Motorists may experience longer delays during this process. Flaggers will maintain traffic during the work.

Work is expected to be completed Monday, July 12. The duration of work may be adjusted for inclement weather or other unforeseeable delays. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to allow extra time in reaching their destination.
