Belle-a-thon launched to help family with medical costs Click headline for links to ways that you can help By Shannon Sexton Isabella Gonzalez is the 14 year old daughter of Emily Sneed and Daniel Gonzalez. To know Isabella is to love her. She is funny, kind, and independent. She is an avid animal lover, and has aspirations to grow up and have a career that enables her to work with animals every day. When Isabella was born it was discovered that she had a chronic liver disease, called Biliary Atresia. This is a rare liver disease that occurs in 1 out of 15,000 births, which prevents the ducts of the liver from functioning. She spent her first 6 months of life at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, having surgeries and procedures. Since then, Isabella's life has been riddled with constant doctors' appointments, checkups, procedures, and daily medications to help give her the best quality of life possible. Sadly, her liver deterioration continued, and just a few short months ago she was placed on the National Transplant Registry in hopes of finding a new liver. Isabella and her family received an answer to their prayers when they got the call on Wednesday, June 30th in the middle of the night that a liver was available for her. The liver was a match and during a 12 hour operation, Isabella received her new liver. Now, she faces months of recovery in the hospital at Cincinnati, which also means that her mother Emily will be by her side every step of the way. Emily is a beautician in Columbia and will miss months of work. This family needs our prayers and support as they navigate through the post-transplant journey. We have set up a Facebook page called "Belle-a-thon" where a silent auction is going on now with all proceeds going to Isabella and family. Donations of auction items or monetary donations may be dropped off at the following locations between now and 7/17:
