Martha Moon Steiner, 92, former Russell County business owner SEPTEMBER 19, 1925 – AUGUST 13, 2018 (Age 92) She will be remembered locally as co-owner of the Pinehurst Lodge in Jamestown, KY. She was an avid fisherwoman and enjoyed playing cards, quilting, knitting, crochet, making prayer shawls for children in the hospital, and working out at Silver Sneakers at the Y. She was active in the Eastern Star, a lifetime member of VFW Post 2800 Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Christ Church United Methodist. Eddie Davis, 60, Taylor County, KY (1958-2018) August 07, 1958 - August 20, 2018 (Age 60) He was of the Catholic Faith. He was a native of Taylor County, KY, and a resident of Franklin, IN, at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Edmond Jasper Davis, II and Katherine "Katie" Silva Davis. He was a quality control employee with Webber Farms in Lawrenceburg until he was disabled by an automobile accident on his way to work and prior to this, he worked at Caulk Hardware, Campbellsville, KY. He loved motorcycles and was formerly employed at Smith Yamaha Shop, and he enjoyed boats and anything with speed. The fact that he survived the 1974 tornado because his father put his helmet on him which was ripped off by the wind may have made him feel invincible. Day Trip comment: roads need checking for various reasons Day trip through the region report reminds writer of trips in Vermont, and of why the bear went over the mountain. From Sharon Whitehurst I always enjoy the words and photos that chronicle the road trips. My Dad served as road commissioner in the small Vermont town where I grew up, and our usual outings were to go along when he drove the dirt roads evenings after work to see what needed fixing.
