TheatreFest! and LWC Theatre to present: The Last Five Years The Last Five Years is directed by and stars Jeremy Cloyd and Caitlin Corder. Photo(s) with full story. Individual dates for the 2018 Fall Season of TheatreFest! will appear in CM Events on the day of each performance - EW Next earlier article, story of Fall 2018 TheatreFest! LWC Theatre produces three musicals for fall season Click on headline for full story By Jeremy Cloyd COLUMBIA, KY - TheatreFest! and the Lindsey Wilson College Theatre Program will present the Jason Robert Brown musical The Last Five Years at 7pmCT each evening, September 5, 6, 7, & 13, 14, 2018, in V.P. Henry Auditorium, 210 Lindsey Wilson Street, Columbia, KY. For ticket information, contact Robert Brock at brockr@lindsey.edu. The musical is co-directed by LWC Assistant to the Director of Theatre, Jeremy Cloyd, and LWC Theatre Senior, Caitlin Corder. The Last Five Years is a unique and intimate musical that revolves around the relationship of two New Yorkers, Jamie, a young writer, and Cathy, an aspiring actress. The story itself is told in two directions by the two characters. Cathy works through the relationship backwards as if running through her memories from breakup to first kiss. Jamie tells the story from the beginning in chronological order. The characters meet only once throughout the play during their wedding. Don't let this format fool you, though. This play provides a window into the highs and the lows of Cathy and Jamie's story. Jason Robert Brown himself said that "Marriage is freighted with a lot of meanings--it's supposed to be a perfect love, the foundation of a family, a support system, a business partnership." The struggle that occurs in The Last Five Years is just that - the struggle to make their love last. "This play is powerful," says co-director Jeremy Cloyd who is also playing Jamie in the production. "Jamie and Cathy love each other, but what this story shows is that love is hard, and it certainly isn't always 50/50" Caitlin Corder, who plays Cathy and is co-directing the show, also feels that the play has a special power. "Cathy's struggle isn't just about finding work in theatre, it's about understanding the difference between success and love. The story is the emotional journey of Cathy and Jamie as they strive to make their love as special as it was when they first met. TheatreFest! and LWC Theatre present The Last Five Years September 5, 6, 7, & 13, 14, 2018, at V.P. Henry Auditorium, 210 Lindsey Wilson Street, Columbia, KY. Seating for this production is limited. Reserved seats are available by emailing Robert Brock at brockr@lindsey.edu. This story was posted on 2018-08-23 09:46:12
