World Pneumonia Day is November 12 Once called "Winter Fever," the symptoms of pneumonia have been known since the time of Greek physician Hippocrates, who commented on it around 460 BC. It wasn't until the late 1800s that the bacterial cause of pneumonia was identified--Streptococcus pneumoniae was first isolated in 1880 by Louis Pasteur and George Sternberg. Veterans Day: A time for appreciation We all recognize the solemn moment of "the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month." We bow our heads in recognition of the end of World Wars I and II. Most of all, on Veterans Day, we remember and honor the veterans of all American wars and conflicts. We show our gratitude in many ways. Some of us will attend parades, ceremonies or prayer services. Others will take time to remember family members and friends who served in past and present conflicts. Many of us will just say, "Thank you for your service." Football: Indians wrap up season in Murray By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer On Friday, November 7, 2025, the Adair County Indians Football team fell 45-8 on the road to Murray in the Class 3A 2025 UK HeathCare Sports Medicine State Football playoffs, marking the end of an up-and-down season for the Tribe. Senior Ryder Rodgers finished as the Tribe's leading rusher and leader in offensive production and touchdowns. Replacing the large hole left by his graduation will undoubtably be a focus for the Indians heading into this off season. Rodgers also ends as the Indians leading tackler on defense, followed by junior Tristan Mullins and senior Mahlon Coblentz. The Indians finished the season at 3-8, despite injuries and other difficulties, and a playoff appearance is still cause for celebration, and excitement for what next season will bring. Seeing two of the team's three leading tacklers graduate will be a huge challenge for the Indians defense next year, but there is younger depth waiting in the wings. 2025-11-11 08:13:10 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Sports

Major business taxes, which include the corporation income tax and the limited liability entity tax, declined by $118.4 million.
