Phillip Coffey: Nature's Song By Phillip Coffey The falling leaves gasped momentarily, drifting with the gentle breeze from the mighty Silver Maple tree that gave them life, but now they join so many more with their last Hurrahs of seasons glory. So many heaped oh so high for children and kindred to laugh and toss for future stories. Nature's song and dance of rain and chills has all but stolen the gaiety of restful pleasure - with but a moment's notice. The mightiest in my nearsighted view harbors only a dull grey now. The remaining leaves beneath - upon the forest floor shall soon decay returning to its mother - much life support during the winter season. Tammy Allen Hurt, 68, Burkesville, KY Tammy Allen Hurt, age 68 of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Cumberland County Hospital. Tammy was born on September 29, 1957 in Clinton County, Kentucky to the late Beldon Marshall Allen and Barbara Gayle Murphy Allen. She was a member of Liberty Methodist Church and was a retired employee of the City of Burkesville where she had served in multiple roles during the years as dispatcher, parking attendant, and later as city clerk. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister Donna Allen and one brother-in-law Mark Collins. A Big Day for Blue Raider Football By Duane Bonifer Saturday, November 8, 2025, was a day for big plays, big numbers, big records and a big score for the Lindsey Wilson University football team. In the final regular-season home game of the season, the No. 9-ranked Lindsey Wilson beat Cumberland (Tennessee) University 56-37 to give the Blue Raiders' 24 seniors a winning finale at Parnell Family Stadium. The two teams combined for 1,161 total yards, 53 first downs and two punts. Lindsey Wilson improved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in the Mid-South Conference. Cumberland, who received votes in the recent NAIA Top 25 poll, fell to 6-4 overall and 2-3 in the conference. The Blue Raiders will conclude the regular season at 1pmCT on November 15, 2025, with a game at Bethel (Tennessee) University with the Mid-South Conference regular-season title on the line.
