A Big Day for Blue Raider Football By Duane Bonifer Saturday, November 8, 2025, was a day for big plays, big numbers, big records and a big score for the Lindsey Wilson University football team. In the final regular-season home game of the season, the No. 9-ranked Lindsey Wilson beat Cumberland (Tennessee) University 56-37 to give the Blue Raiders' 24 seniors a winning finale at Parnell Family Stadium. The two teams combined for 1,161 total yards, 53 first downs and two punts. Lindsey Wilson improved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in the Mid-South Conference. Cumberland, who received votes in the recent NAIA Top 25 poll, fell to 6-4 overall and 2-3 in the conference. The Blue Raiders will conclude the regular season at 1pmCT on November 15, 2025, with a game at Bethel (Tennessee) University with the Mid-South Conference regular-season title on the line. Lindsey Wilson scored on the game's first play from scrimmage when junior running back Davontaye Saunders of Eminence, Kentucky, streaked through the Phoenix's defense for a 73-yard touchdown run. Then, on Lindsey Wilson's next play from scrimmage, Saunders sprinted for 69 yards to make it two touchdowns on two carries. Saunders finished the game with three touchdowns and a school single-game record 299 rushing yards. Saunders also set the Blue Raiders' single-season record for rushing yards with 1,440 yards on the season with one more regular-season game to play. Junior running back Stevin Mack of Hendersonville, Tennessee, rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns, and sophomore quarterback Tate Rice of Manchester, Kentucky, completed 11 of 15 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns.
