UPS plane crash update, 3 known fatalities Frankfort, KY - (Nov. 4, 2025) - Gov. Andy Beshear joined emergency management officials and first responders at Louisville Metro Hall to update Kentuckians on the UPS plane crash near the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. The first report of the crash came in at approximately 5:15 p.m. EST. UPS flight 2976 from Louisville, Kentucky, to Honolulu - an MD-11 with three crew members on board - was involved in a catastrophic crash just beyond the takeoff runway. While there was no hazardous cargo on board, impacts can create dangerous conditions and items on the ground where the crash took place can also cause potential hazards. Adair Co. Grand Jury Oct 30 indictments On Thursday, Oct 30, 2025, the Adair County Circuit Court Grand Jury met and handed down indictments against 9 individuals from Columbia and Russell Springs, KY. Charges included possession, flight, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, theft, rape, kidnapping, strangulation, assault, terroristic threatening, menacing, resisting arrest, public intoxication, failure to comply with sex offender registration, burglary, and disarming a police officer. NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding. KY Students invited to enter KDA poster and essay contest From Madison Pergrem Cannon Frankfort, KY - Kentucky students are invited to enter the Kentucky Department of Agriculture's (KDA) annual Poster and Essay Contest, Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell has announced. The theme of the 2026 contest is "Bluegrass Roots, Agriculture Strong" encouraging contestants to illustrate in words, original artwork, or photographs how Kentucky's heritage is reflective in its agriculture. Students in grades K-12 may submit a poster, an essay of 500 words or less, or a digital entry, which may be photos or original digital artwork. Dreamcatcher Program grants first recipient's dream From Bart Logsdon Glasgow, KY - The T.J. Community Mission Foundation has launched the Dreamcatcher Program, designed to fulfill a dream for critically or terminally ill patients residing in the T.J. Regional Health service area. The new program provides meaningful experiences for individuals facing life-threatening illnesses by helping them live out a personal dream close to home. The program's inaugural Dreamcatcher recipient is Tiffany Wilson of Edmonton. Tiffany and her parents experienced a dream come true with a recent trip to Dollywood. The all-inclusive trip featured a two-day pass to Dollywood, accommodations at Dollywood's Dream More Resort & Spa, and tickets to Dolly Parton's Stampede and Pirate's Voyage Dinner Show. All expenses associated with Tiffany's experience were covered by the Dreamcatcher Program. Kendell Hoover, 74, Russell County, KY Kendell Hoover, of Russell Springs, passed away on Sunday, November 02, 2025, at his home, with his family at his side. He was 74 years, 4 months, and 11 days of age. Born on June 22, 1951, in Somerset, he was a son of the late William Oscar and Dolene Atchley Hoover. Kendell was a cattle farmer and owner/operator of Hoover's Excavating for over 25 years. He was a faithful member of Mt. Hope Separate Baptist Church. Kendell loved being outdoors fishing and with his cattle. Kendell will be remembered as being gentle, calm, soft-spoken, and easy-going. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. High school students lead voter registration drive From Joe Arnold Louisville, KY - With the 2026 mid-term elections one year away, hundreds of new voters have been added to the rolls in Kentucky thanks to high school students participating in Co-op Champions, a program coordinated by Kentucky Electric Cooperatives, the association of all 26 electric co-ops in the commonwealth. Thirteen seniors who served as delegates on the weeklong Electric Cooperative Washington Youth Tour this summer, including Hunter Farmer at Taylor County High School, are enlisted in the leadership initiative that takes their youth tour experience to the next level. Modeled after the cooperative principles that drive Kentucky's member-owned electric co-ops, the Co-op Champions program empowers students to engage in their communities, take initiative, and practice civic responsibility. In addition to supporting their local co-ops and volunteering in their communities, each of the Co-op Champions students hosted a Co-ops Vote registration drive.
