Andy Beshear announced that 39 law enforcement officers from agencies across the commonwealth have graduated from the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training's (DOCJT) basic training academy. Congratulations to Adair Co. Middle School FBLA! The Adair Co. Middle School Future Business Leaders of America chapter, which has only been an official chapter since late January, attended the Kentucky FBLA Middle Level State Leadership Conference at Somerset Community College on March 12, 2025. ACMS students racked up an impressive 14 First Place finishes, 3 Second Place finishes, and a total of 19 qualifications to attend and compete at the FBLA Middle School & High School National Leadership Conference this summer in California. In addition, ACMS Sixth Grade Reading Teacher and FBLA advisor Julie Burton was named Kentucky's Outstanding Middle School Advisor of the Year! Burton says, "First, I have to say that the students that make up the ACMS chapter of FBLA, are nothing short of amazing! These kids showed up and showed out today, mind you, this chapter is brand new! We became an official chapter on January 29, 2025. With the State conference already on the horizon we didn't intend to compete, but thankfully Mr. JR Thompson encouraged me to sign them up and Go For It! All of this to say, these 28 kids had less than 3 weeks to prepare for today, and just wait until you scroll down and see what we brought home!" Burkesville, Campbellsville, Jamestown awarded $30K Trail Town funds From Crystal Staley/James Hatchett Frankfort, KY - On March 13, 2025, building on the New Kentucky Home initiative, Gov. Andy Beshear awarded $543,374 in grant funding to 19 Kentucky Trail Towns to repair, enhance and promote projects that boost the quality of life in Kentucky communities while attracting visitors from across the commonwealth and around the world. Burkesville, Campbellsville, and Jamestown will each receive $30,000. "Our Kentucky Trail Town communities play a big role in contributing to Kentucky's $13.8 billion tourism industry, highlighting the best outdoor recreational experiences across the commonwealth," said Gov. Beshear. "This funding provides the resources to create unforgettable experiences, share unique stories, highlight the beauty of our natural resources and welcome more people to experience the warmth and charm of our New Kentucky Home." KYSTATS: January 2025 Unemployment Report From the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet Frankfort, KY - Kentucky's seasonally adjusted preliminary January 2025 unemployment rate was 5.3%, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics (KYSTATS), an agency within the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet. The preliminary January 2025 jobless rate was unchanged from December 2024 and up 0.6 percentage points from one year ago. The U.S. seasonally adjusted jobless rate for January 2025 was 4%, which was down 0.1 percentage points from December 2024, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
