Charles O'Dell, 87, Adair County, KY (1937-2025) Charles Melton O'Dell, age 87, of Columbia, KY passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the Medical Center at Bowling Green in Bowling Green, KY. He was born on December 14, 1937, to the late Lonzolie and Cora (Montgomery) O'Dell and grew up in the city of Clinton in Eastern Tennessee. At a young age, Charles made a profession of faith in Christ during services held at New Beverly Baptist Church and was baptized in a small creek just outside of Knoxville, TN. As a young man, Charles enlisted in the Army National Guard, training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina. Charles then moved to Kentucky and became an x-ray technician, employed by Adair Memorial Hospital. Over a span of 60 years, Charles continued to work as Director of Radiology at Westlake Cumberland Hospital, Casey County Hospital, and Greensburg Hospital. Charles enjoyed farming in his spare time, spending time with his family and grandchildren, admiring antique and classic cars, and watching favorite westerns on tv. CU faculty members receive Faculty Fellowships By Gerard Flanagan, lead writer and communications specialist, Office of Marketing and Communications Three Campbellsville University professors have been selected for Faculty Fellowships from the Appalachian College Association. CU professors Dr. John Hurtgen, Dr. Indra Sahu and Kelly Joplin were all recently selected as Faculty Fellowship recipients for the 2025-2026 academic year. ACA's Faculty Fellowships will provide Hurtgen, Sahu and Joplin with financial support for post-doctoral research projects during the 2025-2026 academic year. Sandy Sneed, 70, Casey County, KY Sandra Kay "Sandy" Sneed age 70, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Sunday March 2nd, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Campbellsville, KY on September 20th, 1954, to the late Margaret Cooper Bell and Vernie Moxley. She was the widow of Danny Sneed. Sandy was a former preschool aide and bus driver. Tom Caldwell, 80, Taylor County, KY Tom Caldwell of Campbellsville, son of the late William Morton Caldwell, Sr. and Odessa Shankle Caldwell, was born January 25, 1945 in Jefferson County, Kentucky. He died Thursday, February 27, 2025 in Campbellsville, aged 80. Tom served his country honorably in the United States Army Reserves. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Bethel First Presbyterian Church. CPD: Traffic stop leads to drug arrest By Officer Adam Cravens, PIO Columbia Police Department The Columbia Police Department initiated a traffic stop on Jamestown Street before 11pmCT on Wednesday night, March 5, 2025. After making contact with the operator, it was found party had an active warrant. While being placed into custody, male attempted to place a pill bottle from his person and discard it in vehicle floorboard. After search, subject was additionally charged with possessing of suspected narcotics.
