Basketball: Indians win 12th straight, defeat Trojans 69-43 By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer The Adair County Indians defeated the Barren County Trojans 69-43 on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Barren County High School. The Trojans hung around early, leading after the 1st quarter and trailing by only 7 at the half. The Indians quickly left Barren county behind in the second half, going up 15 at the end of the third quarter, and ultimately winning by a 26 point margin. This game marks 12 straight victories for Adair County, one of the longest winning streaks in the state and by far the longest winning streak in the 5th Region. The effort against the Trojans was led by Connor Loy and Isaiah Cochran with 21 points and 19 respectively. Cochran posted a double-double, with 12 rebounds, to lead the team. He was followed by Lane Grant with 5 rebounds. The team shot 55% from the floor and 47% from the three point line. Basketball: Lady Indians fall to Trojanettes 73-27 By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer On Saturday, February 8, 2025, the Adair County Lady Indians Basketball team fell to the Barren County Trojanettes 73-27. Unfortunately, anything that could have gone wrong for the Lady Indians pretty much did in this game. The team combined to shoot just 25% from the floor and 13% from three point range. Freshman Reese Bardin led the scoring with 9 points, followed by 8th grader Ella Brown with 6. Freshman Allee Campbell led the team in rebounds with 6, followed by 7th grader Ila Loy with 5. Columbia City Council February 2025 report By Mayor Pamela Hoots The Columbia City Council met in regular session on the first Monday. A group representing the Trabue Russell house spoke on the recommended rehabilitation of the structure of the home. Mary Ann Loy represented the group. The matter was discussed with the city council. More information on possible grants was discussed Council member Sharon Payne is to set up meeting with Lake Cumberland Area Development District. First reading was given of an ordinance updating the pay classification plan for the City of Columbia. ACSO recovers stolen property By Deputy Gary Roy On February 01, 2025 Adair County Sheriffs Deputies responded to the Flatwoods Road area about someone trying to hide tools in a field. Deputies were able to make contact with 2 male individuals and locate a numerous amount of power tools. During the investigation Deputies learned that the power tools were stolen from two different locations in the Portland Road area of Adair County. The Adair County Sheriffs Office was able to identify and return numerous power tools to the rightful owners.
