Congratulations Connor Loy, ACHS lead scorer By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer Connor Loy became the all time leading scorer in Adair County High School Boy’s Basketball history on Tuesday night, December 3, 2024 with 2,332 total points, surpassing Chance Melton who had 2,313. Loy had this to say when asked what it meant, “It means a lot and is pretty cool. ACHS Boys Basketball falls to Cumberland 77-82 By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer On Tuesday night, the Indians fell to Cumberland County 77-82. The Indians were behind the Panthers the entirety of the game after falling behind 10-2 early, but fought back to be down by just 4 at the half. The Indians would continue to be just short of the Panthers for the remainder of the game, as they cut the deficit to just one point during the 4th quarter before Cumberland County regained control. Columbia City Council December meeting report By Mayor Pam Hoots The Columbia City Council met on Monday with several items on the agenda. The Council heard from Jenna Glass with Campbell, Myers, and Rutledge, the city's auditors on their 2024 audit presentation. She gave a brief summary of assets, liabilities, grants, and gave a report on governmental activities and business (gas and sanitation). The city is in very good financial shape. City Attorney Mike Harris gave second reading to the cannabis ordinance, which is "prohibiting cannabis business operations in the City of Columbia."
