Beta Club in the spotlight at ACHS By Jade Waggener ACHS senior reporter for Columbia Magazine Beta Club sponsor and ACHS Chemistry teacher, Ms. Lydia Tiller, tells us about the group, "Beta is an academic based organization that has a foundation based on four core pillars: achievement, service, leadership, and character." To be invited to Beta, a student must have a GPA of 3.5 and commit to 10 community service hours. Students also have the opportunity to compete at the state and national level in a variety of academic areas. Beta student Kaydence Karnes says, "The goals of Beta are to have students be involved in their community and to build character through our pillars. With beta we get to not only compete but get to go to the elementary school to help mentor kids, which both the kids and us look forward to. We do get the honor to compete in not only academic subjects but also things like talent shows, public speaking, and living literature." This story was posted on 2024-12-05 23:36:48
