Adams announces 2024 Student Essay and Slogan Contest From Michon Lindstrom Frankfort, KY - Secretary of State Michael Adams has announced his Office's 2024 essay contest for students in grades 9-12, and slogan contest for students in grades 6-8. The winners will receive prizes and be honored in a public ceremony. "Encouraging civic interest at a young age is crucial to having civically engaged adults," said Adams. "I hope these contests will help our students become informed and engaged in our political process." The essay question posed to high schoolers is, "What can Kentuckians do to ensure that voters are well informed on policies and candidates?" Students should limit their essays to 1,000 words. The slogan contest invites middle school students to suggest a slogan that encourages voters to be well informed about policies and candidates. Trooper Teddy Bears on sale through Monday From Sherry Bray Frankfort, KY - This Black Friday and extending through Cyber Monday, Kentuckians should be on the lookout for bears - Kentucky State Police (KSP) Trooper Teddy Bears! The annual holiday Trooper Teddy sale kicks off today and extends through December 2, 2024. Bears are priced at $20 during this special sale, a 20% discount. Proceeds from the Trooper Teddy Bear sale support KSP's Trooper Teddy Project. This initiative provides teddy bears to children who have endured traumatic situations, such as car crashes, sexual abuse or serious illnesses. The project relies solely on donations and bear sales, with all proceeds used to purchase additional bears. Trooper Teddy Bears are available for purchase online and at any KSP Post. Customers may pick up their bears free of charge at a local KSP Post or have them shipped to their home for an additional fee.
