The Nutcracker returns to The Center in Somerset From Sharon Dodson The holiday classic The Nutcracker is back at The Center for Rural Development to kick off the holiday season. The Center for Rural Development and Lake Cumberland Performing Arts invite you and your family to join us for the holiday classic, The Nutcracker, performed by the Kentucky Ballet Theatre, at 7pmET on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at The Center's Cornelia Dozier Cooper Theatre, 2292 S Hwy 27 #300, Somerset, KY. Tickets are $35 (plus fees) for adults and $25 + fees for children (12 and under) and may be purchased at www.centertech.com or by calling the Box Office at 606-677-6000. "We are excited to have this spectacular ballet as our premier holiday performance," said Laura Glover, Managing Director of Convention & Facility Services at The Center for Rural Development. "The Nutcracker is a holiday tradition and a special time for families to celebrate the holidays." Prior to The Nutcracker performance, The Center for Rural Development will host its annual Spirit of Giving Tree Lighting Ceremony, starting at 6pmET, in the main lobby. Cast members from The Nutcracker are scheduled to join The Center to officially turn on the lights of the Christmas Tree for the season. The Tree Lighting ceremony is a community event and provided free of charge to the public. The beautifully decorated tree is the centerpiece of the holiday decorations in the main lobby. Guests who plan on attending The Nutcracker are invited to arrive early and enjoy the Tree Lighting Ceremony before they enter the theatre for the performance. Reserved tickets are $35 + fees for adults and $25 + fees for children (12 and under) and may be purchased at www.centertech.com, at the Box Office by calling 606-677-6000, or stop by The Center to purchase tickets. The Box Office is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday at The Center for Rural Development, located at 2292 South U.S. 27 (at Traffic Light 15) in Somerset, KY, and prior to the performance. Performance sponsors include the Cornelia Dozier Cooper Endowment Fund, Inc.; Citizens National Bank; the City of Somerset; Pulaski County Government; and the Kentucky Arts Council. The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, provides operating support to Lake Cumberland Performing Arts with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. Established in 1996 through the vision of U.S. Congressman Harold "Hal" Rogers, (KY-05), and other leaders, The Center for Rural Development is a nonprofit organization fueled by a mission to provide leadership that stimulates innovative and sustainable economic development solutions and a better way of life in Southern and Eastern Kentucky.
