ACHS teacher spotlight: Ms. Julie Brockman By Jade Waggener ACHS senior reporter for Columbia Magazine My name is Julie Brockman, and I've been a teacher for 19 years. The majority of those years have been at Adair County High School teaching World History and AP Psychology. Julie writes, "I am a graduate of Adair County High, Class of 1994. In 1995 I married Jonathan Brockman and we have three sons, Jacob, Justin, and Jarett. We also have a beautiful daughter-in-law and are excited to say that we are expecting our first grandchild in December. Basketball: LWC Women win home opener against (RV) Pikeville The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated (RV) Pikeville (KY) 75-65 on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in the home opener at Biggers Sports Center. The Blue Raiders (3-0) shot 42.6 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from behind the arc. Lindsey Wilson connected on 12-16 from the charity stripe. Claire Fleming connected on five-of-six from the free-throw line contributing nine points. Saniyah Shelton led the Blue Raider offense with 18 points and five assists. Jarie Thomas, Amelia Hodges, and Taylor Guess were the other Blue Raiders who scored in the double digits with 14, 13, and 13 points. KSP: Operation SafeDRIVE promotes driver safety Frankfort, KY - Driver safety is among the top priorities for the Kentucky State Police (KSP). From targeting unsafe driving behaviors like speeding to assisting motorists experiencing vehicle troubles on the side of the road, KSP troopers and officers are committed to maintaining safety on all Kentucky roadways. KSP's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) is furthering this devotion to safety by participating in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Operation SafeDRIVE (Distracted Reckless Impaired Visibility Enforcement) from Monday, November 18, 2024, to Wednesday, November 20, 2024. The initiative focuses on dangerous interstate driving behaviors such as aggressive driving, speeding, tailgating, failing to wear a seat belt and driving under the influence. During this effort, KSP Commercial Vehicle Inspectors will open scale facilities, ensuring commercial drivers follow safety regulations, including hours of service compliance, commercial driver license compliance, medical certification and commercial motor vehicle credentialing.
