Letter: thinking of our future This question is in response to the idea of A "Think Tank" for Adair County's future: What happens to ACHS students post-graduate? Over 150 students graduate from ACHS each year and either enter college, join the workforce or military, and/or begin their families. Many years ago, upon graduation, many students joined their family farming business, which has today become more modernized in equipment compared to 30-40 years ago, not as many joined this business. Is Adair County prepared to assist students who remain here, begin working, and start their families each year? Blair Park Pumpkin Contest starts Saturday Anyone planing on setting up a display or decorated or carved pumpkins is asked to call Bridget or Benisha at the Judge Executive's office, 270-384-4703, and make arrangements. Fiscal Court leaders hopes this will be a fun thing for the whole Adair County community and would love for people to participate and build the first annual Jim Blair Center Pumpkin Trail and Pumpkin Decorating contest up to an annual event. Rusty Emerson, 49, Casey County, KY Russell "Rusty" L. Emerson, of Liberty, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024, at the Casey County Hospital. He was 49. He was born May 20, 1975, in Beech Grove, IN to Patricia Carol Atwood Emerson and the late Russell Emerson, Jr. He worked in manufacturing. Rusty loved spending time with his children. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved baseball and was huge fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Michael Jordan. Rhonda Kay Smither, 54, Casey County, KY Rhonda Kay Smither, of Liberty, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the Casey County Hospital. She was 54. She was born September 18, 1970, in Ohio to the late William Earl and Mary Lee Long Wilson. She was a homemaker. She loved her grandbabies, enjoyed her tv shows and shopping on Temu. Volleyball: LWC sweeps Cumberland in penultimate home match The (RV) Blue Raider volleyball team swept Cumberland (TN) on Tuesday evening, October 22, 2024, in front of a "Pink Out" crowd at Biggers Sports Center. Lindsey Wilson - who won its 11th consecutive home match - outhit the Phoenix .320 to .241 and held a significant 12-2 edge from the service line. Elizabeth Moore put down seven kills in the first set en route to a season-high 13, while Savanah Pippin chipped in 11 on 14 attempts. Both attackers hit .500 or better to pace the Blue Raider offense. Halloween Pumpkin Decorating Contest By Kim Harwood, Executive Director Edmonton Metcalfe Chamber of Commerce The Edmonton-Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce will host Trick or Treat on the Square this year with businesses, clubs & churches set up in the Courtyard to pass out treats. Decorating the Square is underway, and all the businesses are looking great (a lot of amazing displays off the square as well)! The Chamber will host a pumpkin decorating contest for our younger Metcalfe County students' grades K - 4. The pumpkin may be decorated with paint, markers, crayons, stickers, fabric, or carved with the help of an adult.
