We were eating our Pizza Hut spaghetti and Joseph looked left and then right and realized the elderly (in his eyes) surrounded him. "Does it take a long time to get old?" he asked. "Yes, a long time. Why?" He was probably thinking of himself and wasn't in any hurry. He looked at Guy and spoke as if Guy weren't in the room. "Papa is old, isn't he?" Guy nearly choked on his meatballs. Legislative committee discusses housing issues From Jordan Hensley, LRC Frankfort, KY -- Kentuckians have long commutes and struggle to find an affordable place to live, according to data shared with lawmakers Thursday. Patrick Bowen, president of Bowen National Research, told the Interim Joint Committee on Economic Development and Workforce Investment that housing issues across the commonwealth are a concern for employers as well. Bowen's research looked at worker commutes, wages and housing affordability and availability in five Kentucky counties -- Daviess, Fayette, Kenton, Rowan and Warren. Each county had a large population of workers who travel at least 50 miles day for work, Bowen said. Paint the Plow: Students decorate trucks with safety messages From Naitore Djigbenou Frankfort, KY - State "snow fighter" highway crews are equipped, ready and waiting for winter in Kentucky. While supplies and staff are equipped, drivers are reminded to join the effort to keep roadways safe. To help, high school students from across Kentucky participated in the first statewide "Paint the Plows" program to elevate not only the look of select state trucks, but the message of safe driving behavior. KYTC launched its first statewide "Paint the Plow "program this year open to participants from any Kentucky high school. A total of 52 schools participated, including schools in Taylor and Russell Counties. Each painted a plow blade from their local Department of Highways district office. On November 3, 2023, Brenton Billingsley proudly signed his commitment to serve in the U.S. Air Force Special Warfare. The signing ceremony marked a significant milestone in Brenton's journey to serve his country. The Special Warfare Division of the U.S. Air Force is an elite and demanding branch that requires the highest level of physical and mental preparation. His decision to join this division reflects his remarkable, unwavering dedication and exceptional qualities. At the signing event, Brenton Billingsley was joined by his proud parents, Emily and Jonathan, Air Force Special Warfare recruiter SSGT Derek Knight, Air Force recruiter Alex Woods, and his teacher Krystal Redmon.
