Brandon Blair, pastor and Iraq veteran, gives chapel address

By Simon Baker

Campbellsville, KY - Brandon Blair was serving his country in Iraq when he suddenly came under fire and was shot in the chest. Blair discussed how Christ saved him on that traumatic day in his chapel address Feb. 22 at Campbellsville University.

Blair said he understood his need for a relationship with Christ that day when he was shot in the chest by a 7.62 armor-piercing round from a sniper.

"When we went into combat, they said not every one of you would return," Blair said. "I didn't think for a second that anything would happen to me, but I did get hit. I was the first person in my unit to get injured in August of 2006."

KYTC: Designate a sober driver this St. Patrick's Day

From Erin G. Eggen

Frankfort, KY - Although Irish in its roots, St. Patrick's Day is most widely celebrated in the United States. While celebrations are expected, particularly this year since the holiday falls on a Friday, motorists are reminded never to drive buzzed and to make a plan to get home safely.

"Buzzed driving affects more than you," said Gov. Andy Beshear. "One bad decision can literally wreck your life, and the lives of innocent people on the road. If you plan to drink alcohol, please plan for a safe ride home by designating a sober driver."

Boat owners advised to renew registration beginning April 3

From Naitore Djigbenou

Frankfort, KY - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises boat title owners that motorboat registration requests will be accommodated at all County Clerk offices starting April 3, 2023. Annual registration renewals are typically accepted beginning March 1, but additional time is necessary to allow the decal vendor to reprint and deliver tags required to complete the registration process. Current registrations do not expire until April 30, 2023.

"We want boat owners who opt to renew early aware of the temporary delay to honor their time and avoid an unnecessary trip," said KYTC Secretary Jim Gray. "We expect to have new decals available at County Clerk offices well ahead of the April 30 registration expiration for owners to update their tags and continue enjoying the open water."

Every motorboat registered in Kentucky must display a valid, unexpired tag.
