ACSO: Man airlifted to Lexington after head-on collision From Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff's Office On Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 4:10amCT, Adair County 911 received a call about a two vehicle injury collision approximately 8.5 miles east of Columbia on KY206. Upon his arrival, Deputy Sheriff Josh Durbin found that two vehicles had struck head on and one operator was trapped in his vehicle. Preliminary investigation shows that Brent Pipgrass, age 21, was traveling west in a 2019 Dodge Ram when he crossed the center line of KY206. The vehicle struck a 2015 Subaru operated by Zack Bohme, age 34, head-on. Sunday meeting to vote on disaffiliation from UMC By Chris Lagermann Red Lick United Methodist Church, Edmonton, KY, encourages all members to attend a special meeting on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the church to vote on disaffiliating from The United Methodist Church. Larry Dale (PeeWee) Gumm, 86, Green County, KY Larry Dale "PeeWee" Gumm of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Joseph Motley Gumm and Vara Marshall Gumm, was born on Wednesday, March 11, 1936 and passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023. He was 86 years, 11 months, and 30 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Greensburg Baptist Church. He was a teacher at Green County Schools for 40 plus years, coached the Green County High School Baseball team for 44 seasons, and was also an assistant coach for the basketball and football teams. In baseball, he had an overall record of 1,006-493, becoming the first Kentucky high school baseball coach to reach 1,000 wins. He is currently ranked 4th in all time coaching wins and was inducted into the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame inaugural class in 1997. Gavin Giles is Student Essay Winner By Mark Fudge Gavin Giles, a student at Adair County Elementary School (ACES), was selected Adair County winner in the "2022-2023 Grandparent of the Year" essay contest sponsored by AARP Kentucky and the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association (KRTA). Gavin is a fifth grade student in Robin Hancock's class and he wrote the essay about his grandmother Cheryl Giles. Gavin is the son of Ashley McGuffin. Gavin is among thousands of Kentucky fifth graders who participated in the 21st annual essay competition for 2022-2023. Students submitted essays answering why "My Grandparent should be the AARP Kentucky Grandparent of the Year" to their fifth grade teachers. Members of the Adair County Retired Teachers Association then selected the winning essay in Adair County. As county winner, Gavin received a framed certificate and $25 for his efforts.
