By State Representative Amy Neighbors

I left Frankfort on Friday, January 6 after four busy legislative days. While we are set to reconvene session on February 7, committees are meeting and legislators continue to work on the bills and resolutions we will take up when we return.

Session is a great time to visit the Capitol in Frankfort. If you are interested in making the trip while we are in session, please consider allowing me to schedule a tour of the Capitol. We are also able to arrange tours of the Kentucky History Center, the Old Capitol, and the Military History Museum.

Phillip Coffey - Simmering

He sat in his shelter under the damp, cloud-covered skies
So many had sought-trying to muster up a wry grin.
Smell of chili simmering- doing his assigned washing.
Thinking of warmer days that just passed of the too brief Indian Summer.

Letter: Several woodpeckers year-round residents

Wendy Butler Burt writes:
Veronica Arnold’s photo of two Pileated Woodpeckers is lovely, but the text is not entirely accurate. Adair County is fortunate to be home territory for seven woodpecker species -- Pileated Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Hairy Woodpecker, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Red-headed Woodpecker, and Downy Woodpecker. Only one of them -- the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker -- is migratory, spending only winters in the county. All the other woodpecker species may be found in Adair County year round.
