Travel: Goblin Valley State Park, Utah

By Robert Ellis

Goblin Valley State Park lies between Green River, Utah and Capital Reef National Park. It's a fun state park to visit and explore, and only a short 12 miles off the beaten path between the two areas.

Park size was over 3600 acres...however as of June 2022, the Bureau of Land Management signed over 6,300 acres increasing the park significantly. One wonders will it ultimately become a National Park?

Here's an excerpt from the Utah State Parks Blog regarding the land transfer:
"Goblin Valley State Park - It's been described as mysterious, majestic, weird, wonderful, and downright "Martian." Goblin Valley State Park is a Utah favorite for a reason - and now, it's growing."

Mayor asking businesses to help create Hometown Christmas

From Tiffany Collins
City of Columbia, Kentucky

It almost that time. Christmas holidays are coming soon. The City of Columbia will be starting their decorations soon for downtown. This year they are hoping to have a "Hometown Christmas."

"We would like local businesses to decorate their windows," said Mayor Pamela Hoots. "We are wanting children (and, adults) to be able to walk around the square and enjoy the decorations and the holiday season."

Christmas decorations will begin the week of November 21 in downtown Columbia. There will be a prize for the best decorated business in the city limits. In addition to downtown, Christmas in the Park is underway. At this time, approximately thirty separate businesses, churches, and individuals have signed up to do a display. This is the drive-through event held at the Joe Johnson Little League Park.

If you would like to participate in "Christmas in the Park," please call the Mayor's Office at 270-384-2501 and leave your name.
