KSP responds to riot at Adair Regional Detention Center From Trooper Jonathan Houk On November 11, 2022 at approximately 9:40pmCT, the Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15 received a call requesting assistance with a riot at the Adair Regional Detention Center, a maximum security juvenile detention center, located in Adair County. The initial call was regarding a juvenile who had assaulted a staff member, confiscated the staff member's keys and released other juveniles from their cells. KSP troopers, along with other local law enforcement officers, entered the facility and restored order. Several staff and juveniles were injured during the incident and transported to the hospital for treatment. More than 150 veterans attend LWC Appreciation Luncheon By Venus Popplewell "As we pause each year to honor and celebrate our veterans, we remind ourselves that freedom is not free." That was a part of the message delivered by U.S. Marine Corp Lance Corporal, retired, Richard Schmidt at the Lindsey Wilson College 20th-annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon held on Friday at the Adair County VFW Post 6097. "Today we celebrate Veterans Day," Schmidt began. "We are part of a special legacy that remains faithful to the mission to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies. Our values have remained the same: God, country, and family. Our praise and remembrance of those that are not with us is a part of how we honor our veterans. When we serve others it is also a way to praise and honor the legacy that we carry on." More than 150 guests attended the luncheon on Friday which was free and open to all area veterans. Basketball: Blue Raiders to challenge Murray State in exhibition Following a successful weekend at the Brady Button Memorial Classic, the Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team is due back on the hardwood on Saturday, November 12, 2022, when they compete in an exhibition contest against the Racers of Murray State University. Saturday will be the first all-time meeting between Murray State and Lindsey Wilson, and is scheduled as the first of three exhibitions for the Blue Raiders this season. Fans can watch the active live on ESPN+. Tip-off from Murray, Kentucky is slated for 7pmCT. Members of the Missouri Valley Conference, the Racers enter this weekend on the heels of a 91-68 loss to Saint Louis University on Monday. The match-up with the Blue Raiders will serve as Murray State's home opener, something the Racers have not lost since 2014. CU: Underwood is new director of undergraduate admissions Campbellsville, KY - Andrea Underwood, a two-time graduate of Campbellsville University, has been promoted to director of undergraduate admissions at the university. A native of Greensburg, Underwood is the daughter of Johnny and Cindy Houk of Greensburg, KY. Underwood served as interim director of undergraduate admissions, where she implemented efficiencies in recruitment planning, including coordinating across all Campbellsville University centers and reducing recent issues of turnover among admission recruiters through training and staff development, and she led this year's increase in new student enrollment. "Andrea remained the constant source of goodwill and positive relationship with our local community among all of the changes in leadership and staffing in the admission area," according to Dr. Jason Meriwether, vice president of enrollment management.
