Letter: Courthouse renovation studied in 2010

George Kolbenschlag writes:
There was an extensive study done on removing the courthouse "wings" in 2010 shortly after the county offices moved from the old courthouse. Committees were formed to make recommendations on things like traffic control on the square, cost of much needed renovation of the courthouse, possible uses of the historic building, burying the overhead electrical wires, and removal of the wings.

That study was professionally done, much of it by Greg Eastham. The cost was covered, I believe 100%, by a grant from the state. It was a significant undertaking, but quickly shelved and never activated. I checked on that study when Mike Stephens was county Judge Advocate and was told it was in the county files.

I hope review of that study and the information provided in it was undertaken by the magistrates when they "discussed" the removal of the court house wings.
