Farmers Market news: Kids Bucks and Wednesdays

Kids Bucks returns to Farmers Market on the Square on Saturday July 3, 2021, starting at 8:30amCT. We have a limited amount, so we will hand them out until they are gone. Each child ages 2-12 will receive a booklet of $5.00. These are used at the market with any of the vendors. Hope to see you Saturday morning.

Farmers Market on the Square starts their weekday opening on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. Wednesday hours are 8amCT to 1pmCT. Now you can shop for local products on both Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Lillie Rose Scott, 79, Casey County, KY (1942-2021)

Lillie Rose Scott, age 79 of Liberty, KY passed away on Monday June 28th, 2021, at her residence. She was born on April 7, 1942, in Casey County, KY, a daughter of the late James Leo and Minnie Lois Derringer McFarland.

Lillie was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and OshKosh.

Fiscal Court report from Judge Executive Gale Cowan

The Adair County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Tuesday afternoon.

Since we made our fiscal court meetings back open to the public we had been meeting at the Jim Blair Recreation Center to allow for social distancing. Beginning in July, our meeting will go back to our normal meeting place and times. Adair County Annex Building Basement, 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6pm and the last Tuesday of each month at 4.

The Adair County Fiscal Court is looking at building our own transfer station.

City of Columbia to distribute Back To School Supplies

The City of Columbia will be doing their 2nd annual Back To School Bash on Friday, August 6, 2021, in Columbia. It will be held in conjunction with the 2nd annual Truck It Up event.

If you or your business would like to donate some of the following supplies, please contact City Hall: Pencils, Pens, Paper, Notebooks, Erasers, Rulers, Crayons, Markers, Coloring Pencils.

The city will need the supplies by Friday, July 30, 2021. For further information, please contact City Hall at tcollins@cityofcolumbiaky.com.

It's currently 70F at the Adair County Mesonet station. It will be partly sunny today, with a high near 88F and a 30 percent chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with an overnight low around 70F, and a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. South wind 5 to 7 mph.

Thursday will bring a 100 percent chance of showers, and possibly a thunderstorm, with a high near 80F and west wind 5 to 9 mph.

Thursday Night will bring a continued 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with an overnight low around 65F, and southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
