Haskiells selling Kozy Haven after eight years Kozy Haven Log Cabin Rentals is located just off Exit 49 in Columbia, KY, near the south end of the Veterans Memorial Bypass. It is a unique property that offers log cabin rentals to tourists visiting Green River Lake and Lake Cumberland, plus many folks visiting Lindsey Wilson College. Peggy Haskiell has been in charge of the day-to-day operations, but she plans to retire in order to assist her elderly father, who is facing several health-related issues. The business was started in 2013 shortly after John and Peggy Haskiell purchased the property from the late Hazel Parson's estate. At that time, the property contained only Hazel's original two bedroom cottage, which is still on the property today, and a white storage barn. The Haskiells originally built four "Smokey Mountain"-style log cabins, and demand has been so high that they've added more cabins, a 2-bedroom log home, a playground, and a picnic area. They have lodged guests from all 50 states and 48 countries, hosting countless family reunions and even weddings. ACPC: Party honors Garrison and Perkins at retirement Paula Garrison, outgoing Coordinator of the Adair County Primary Center Family Resource Center, and Jennifer Perkins, 28-year FMD teacher in Adair County schools, were honored at a retirement party at the end of the 2020-2021 school year at Adair County Primary Center. Garrison is looking forward to spending some time at the beach and with her family, and to helping her husband with their construction business, JAGCO Construction. Perkins says she plans to "buy and remodel my grandparents' house, sell mine, and live happily ever after." Rosters for Blake Martin Memorial Basketball Game The Blake Martin Memorial Basketball Game is coming up this weekend. Admission will be donation only. Metcalfe Co. Library begins move for construction From Gaye Shaw, Executive Director Edmonton Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce After careful planning, the Metcalfe County Public Library Board of Trustees and staff are excited to announce that an updated facility is becoming a reality for Metcalfe County. The project involves a new addition and renovation to the current facility, which will expand library services for all of Metcalfe County. The Metcalfe County Public Library will be closed June 1st - June 12th with the purpose of moving everything out and into our temporary location. During construction, the library will temporarily be operating out of the former Metcalfe County Elementary School library (across from the blue gym) at 206 Education Way Suite 2. Edmonton, KY 42129 starting June 14th. All of the library services will continue to be available throughout the move.
